About Tiffany Rizko

Why I Got Into Rehabilitation and Management:

I’ve always been a ‘fixer’—whether it’s people or things, I’ve always loved finding solutions. My fascination with the human body really kicked in after my own pile-up of sports injuries growing up. Between sprained ankles from soccer and sore backs from skiing (turns out snow is less forgiving than it looks!), I became fascinated by how the human body heals—and how rehabilitation is about so much more than just physical recovery. This led me to study Exercise Sciences with Athletic Therapy at Lethbridge College. Playing collegiate soccer (because why not add a few more injuries to the mix?) and traveling with collegiate basketball teams as their athletic therapist helped me sharpen my skills in treating all kinds of injuries—on and off the court.

Background:

Born and raised in the charming town of Bonnyville, Alberta, I’ve always been drawn to the province’s natural beauty (and yes, I mean the lakes, not just the mosquitoes). After studying, travelling, and working in various places, St. Albert has become my latest adventure—fewer mosquitoes, more opportunities to continue my work in rehabilitation.

Community Involvement:

Cultivating community is everything to me. I’ve worked with local sports teams, offering injury prevention clinics, and participated in charity events to support mental health awareness in athletes—because even champions need support off the field. I’ve also been involved in efforts to ensure the wellbeing of the homeless community, believing that no one should be left behind.

Skills & Training

Personal Interests:

I’m constantly exploring new things—life is too short to stick with just one passion! Whether it’s surfing (yes, I can shred), horseback riding, or simply recharging by a lake, outdoor adventures keep me going. I’m also a bit of a foodie, always on the hunt for the next best gluten- and dairy-free meal. For me, balance is key—especially when the last slice of gluten-free cake is tempting me!

Goals with Patients:

My goal is simple: get people out of pain and empower them to stay healthy for the long haul. Whether it’s a warm smile or a tough-love pep talk, I believe in building relationships that leave people feeling stronger and more confident—ready to tackle life without limitations (or nagging shoulder pain!).

Fun Fact – Best Advice I’ve Ever Received:

“Be where your feet are.” It sounds simple, but it’s powerful. It keeps me grounded, especially when life gets hectic, and the notifications keep your phone buzzing. Focusing on the “what if” takes away from the magic of the “right now.” Living in the moment—even when your feet are in soggy shoes—keeps things in perspective. You will always be on duty to find my missing phone, as I try to distance myself as much as possible!

Fun Fact – Hidden Talent:

Music runs in my blood (ask about my parent’s love story) My interest not only lies with the current top 40 trends, but any and every genre. I’ve likely seen it live, performed it at a wedding, or serenaded my cat with it! Concert tickets make the best gifts (hint, hint). And if you need a backup singer for your garage band, I’m always available—just make sure my cat gets front-row seats.
